Behavioral and Mental Health Residential
Lionheart Recovery provides expert care and support to teens and adolescents who are impacted by mental illness in significant ways. Our intensive live-in program is designed to create a community atmosphere where young people can work towards sustained mental health management. Our expert staff is focused on working with patients and loved ones to develop personalized treatment plans that build a solid foundation for healing and overall wellness.
What We Treat
Our intensive residential program is geared towards teens and adolescents who are struggling to manage their mental health and their daily lives and responsibilities at the same time. Our specialized care teams have experience working with youth who are have depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, PTSD, schizophrenia, borderline personality disorder, and eating disorders. The patients we support often struggle with thoughts of suicide and other self-harming behaviors and our staff members are able to provide compassionate, round-the-clock care.
Adolescents in Crisis
The 24/7 support that is offered in the residential program is ideal for patients who may be a danger to themselves or others because of their mental illness. At Lionheart Recovery, we are able to offer immediate admittance for young people in crisis, and will quickly get to work on a care plan that can provide relief from even the most severe mental health symptoms. The therapists on site are trained in rapid de-escalation techniques, and our team of psychiatrists and physicians are able to provide emergency medication management. For a teen or adolescent in crisis, there is no safer place than our residential treatment facility.
Living and Healing in Community
For young people admitted to the behavioral and mental health residential treatment program, community building and contribution will quickly become a way of life. Patients work together to manage their living space and rely on one another to complete their assigned duties to keep their dwelling spaces feeling like home. These responsibilities and peer connections help patients to build a sense of self-worth and importance, which is critical for young people struggling through mental health recovery. Patients are also encouraged to communicate with their peers in order to establish and maintain meaningful relationships and social skills. Living in a community style space offers much more opportunity for meaningful and organic social interaction compared to an inpatient hospital setting. The teens and adolescents in the behavioral and mental health residential treatment program feel a lot like family, and their close relationships help Lionheart Recovery to feel much like home.
Our patients spend much of their time working with licensed professional therapists who are able to assess their mental health needs, provide accurate diagnoses of mental illnesses, and become a reliable and compassionate support while admitted to the behavioral and mental health residential program. Our professionals utilize many different treatment methods, or modalities, in order to help patients stabilize and manage their mental illness, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). Group therapy and illness-specific support groups are also available to patients so that they may collaborate with peers and professionals who are familiar with their specific mental health struggles.
Lionheart Recovery also provides 24/7 access to psychiatric nurses and psychiatrists for establishing and maintaining an effective medication management plan. Our experts are familiar with appropriate psychotropic medications for individuals under the age of 18 and are able to make adjustments in real time in order to find a meaningful medication regimen as quickly as possible.
Building a Routine
For many youths struggling with mental illness, daily tasks related to hygiene and self-care often fall by the wayside. Our support staff and skills building staff work with individuals admitted to the program to begin re-implementing daily self-care tasks into a regular routine. This focus on structure offers a sense of support and accountability for patients so that they may continue to grow in their journey of mental health and general wellness.
Physical fitness and holistic activities such as meditation and yoga are also implemented into the daily schedule of the patients in the behavioral and mental health residential program. These activities help the brain to make more “feel good” hormones, like dopamine and endorphins that can help speed along the recovery process and establish a lasting habit that encourages patients that are healthy in mind, body, and spirit.
Support for the Road Ahead
Patients who complete the residential treatment program will work with their interdisciplinary care team and loved ones to connect to ongoing mental health support services even after they leave the program. Teens and adolescents will have the opportunity to continue to receive one-on-one therapeutic support, group therapy sessions, and medication management in their home community. This wrap-around support model ensures that patients can continue to manage their mental health care in practical and meaningful ways for a lifetime.
